The media, social media and rumours have created and sustained lots of myths related with novel Coronavirus.
Emergency Manager magazine is commited to provide correct information about emergencies and disaster.
We are only publishing facts related with new Coronavirus outbreak.
The new Coronavirus is new virus which has been given name 2019-nCoV.Later WHO named the disease caused by it as COVID 19.
It was first reported from Wuhan,China on 31st December,2019.
Can the COVID-19 virus spread through drinking water?
The COVID-19 virus has not been detected in drinking water. Conventional water treatment methods that use filtration and disinfection, such as those in most municipal drinking water systems, should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.
Is COVID-19 virus found in feces?
The virus that causes COVID-19 has been detected in the feces of some patients diagnosed with COVID-19. The amount of virus released from the body (shed) in stool, how long the virus is shed, and whether the virus in stool is infectious are not known.
The risk of transmission of COVID-19 from the feces of an infected person is also unknown.
However, the risk is expected to be low based on data from previous outbreaks of related coronaviruses, such as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS).
There have been no reports of fecal-oral transmission of COVID-19 to date.
Will summer kill the COVID 19 virus ?
COVID 19 virus lives in a human body which has a stable temperature of 98.6°F (37°C).
Body temperature of a healthy person remains constant even if a human is staying in temperature 45 degree Celcius or -30 degree Celcius.
Most of virus of Coronavirus group get destroyed by higher temperatures and UV However, COVID 19 virus is a new virus and no definitive long term study has been done.
A study was published by the Journal of Hospital Infection in Germany.
This study tells that a human coronavirus could survive for five days in 21C (69.8 F) temperature on a Teflon, ceramic or steel surface. A severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV) virus could survive on a plastic surface for more than five days between 22C and 25C (71.6-77F).
These facts are alarming. The exact relationship of COVID 19 virus and temperature is not perfectly know.
It is a directly transmitted virus from humans to humans.
Any direct transmission through droplets and infected body fluids is very quick and does not have sufficient time outside the human body to have effect of higher temperature.
In present circumstances,we should not pay much emphasis on high temperature aspect as it will make people complacent and careless.
They will avoid prescribed precautions and, in turn, get easily infected.
Observations of hand washing, wearing face masks, maintaining personal and social hygiene and avoiding contact with infected persons are more important things than believing in myths.
