45 dead in Delhi Anaj Mandi fire

45 persons are reported to have died in Anaj mandi fire near Rani Jhansi road, Delhi.It is being guessed that the fire broke out due to short circuit in factory making packaging material.

About 50 persons have been rescued.About 30 fire tenders were employed to control this massive fire.

Medical care of victims of anaj mandi fire

Injured victims have been sent to Hindu Rao Hospital and RML Hospital.More than dozen persons are injured.They have varied degrees of burn and injuries.

Legal action against person responsible for fire

Delhi police has registered an case against the factory owner under section 304 of IPC.

An official of Delhi Fire Service informed that they received information about the fire at 5.22 am on 8th Dec,2019.They immediately rushed fire tenders to the incident site.

Why fire arose in Anand Mandi Delhi ?

Many factories operate along with shops dealing in grain trade in narrow lanes of this anaj mandi.Illigal encroachment is a major problem here.

Modified shops, polythene sheets, plastic bags, grains all added in rapid spread and sustainance of this fire.Old electrical wiring, multiple connection and use of sub standard electrical equipment are major causes of fire incidents.

These environments posed hurdle in fire fighting and search and rescue operation.

PM Narendra Modi has condoled death of victims

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has condoled the loss of lives in fire at Delhi’s Anaj Mandi on Rani Jhansi Road.

“The fire in Delhi’s Anaj Mandi on Rani Jhansi Road is extremely horrific. My thoughts are with those who lost their loved ones. Wishing the injured a quick recovery. Authorities are providing all possible assistance at the site of the tragedy”, the Prime Minister said.

Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal have expressed their condolences for the victims of this fire incident.Arvind Kejriwal government has ordered an inquiry on this incident.
