Main Weather Observations Rainfall observed (from 0830 to 1730 hours IST of yesterday ):   Heavy rainfall observed at isolated places over north Rajasthan from 0830 to 1730 hrs IST of yesterday. Rain/thundershowers observed at many places over East Uttar Pradesh,Lakshadweep and Coastal Karnataka; at a few places over West Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal & Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura,Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Odisha, Andaman & Nicobar, Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra; at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Assam & Meghalaya, Jharkhand, Gujarat region, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamilnadu and interior Karnataka. Rainfall recorded at 1730 hours IST of yesterday (3 cm or more) were:
  • Pilani­-11,
  • Bharatpur-­9,
  • Indore-­6,
  • Kanpur & Delhi­ Ridge-­4 each;
  • Wardha, Umaria, Karwar and Dharmsala- ­3 each;
Maximum temperature departures as on 29­08­2018: Maximum temperatures were above normal (1.6 °C to 3.0°C) at most places over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Bihar; at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu and Sub­Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim; at isolated places over West Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Telangana and Rayalaseema. They were appreciably below normal (­3.1°C to ­5.0°C) at isolated places over Gujarat region and Madhya Pradesh and below normal (­1.6°C to ­3.0°C) at most places over East Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh; at many places over Gujarat region and at isolated places over Haryana, Assam & Meghalaya, West Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra & Kutch, Coastal Karnataka, Tamilnadu and Assam & Meghalaya. Today, the highest maximum temperature of 40.0°C recorded at Ganganagar (West Rajasthan) over the country.   Minimum temperature departures as on 29­08­2018: Minimum temperatures were above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over Punjab; at many places over Jammu & Kashmir,Himachal Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh and Sub­ Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim; at a few places over Uttarakhand and at isolated places over Gujarat and Rajasthan.They were below normal (­1.6°C to ­3.0°C) at a few places over East Madhya Pradesh and at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh and near normal over rest of the country. Meteorological Analysis(Based on 0530 hours IST) The axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Anupgarh, Hissar, Delhi, Shajanpur,Sultanpur, Patna, Bankura, Digha and thence east­southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal. The cyclonic circulation over northeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining south Uttar Pradesh extending upto 2.1 km above mean sea level persists. The cyclonic circulation over northern parts of Haryana and neighbourhood extending upto 1.5 km above mean sea level persists. The cyclonic circulation over south Gujarat & neighbourhood at 3.1 km above mean sea level persists. The East­ West shear zone between 3.6 km and 7.6 km above mean sea level roughly along latitude 20°N tilting southwards with height persists.. The cyclonic circulation between 5.8 km and 7.6 km above mean sea level over central parts of Konkan & adjoining Madhya Maharashtra embedded in the east­west shear zone persists. The cyclonic circulation between 3.6 km and 4.5 km above mean sea level over north interior Odisha & neighbourhood persists. The Western Disturbance as a trough in mid­tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level now runs roughly along longitude 80°E to the north of latitude 32°N.
