India bans air travel from Britain &EU from 18 March

India has imposed travel ban from all travellers from Britain which is effective from 1200 GMT on 18th March 2020.

It has prohibited all airlines from operating any flight from Britain from above mentioned time and date.

As COVID 19 has spread to 146 countries.It has infected 114 persons in India till 1600 hrs.

European countries have become epicenter of COVID 19 cases in world.

Most of the COVID 19 infections have arrived in India from Europe.

India has screened 12,76,046 number of passengers at airport.Screening at airports is a very big burden on government system.

Inspite of stringent check , some travellers have escaped the system.

To check any possibility of spread, government of India has taken strong decision to ban travel from UK.

Following is the text of notification issued by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare:-

In continuation of the travel advisory issued on 11th March 2020, the following additional advisory
is issued:


(i) Expanding compulsory quarantine for a minimum period of 14 days for passengers
coming from/transiting through UAE, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait.

This will come into
effect from 1200 GMT on 18th March 2020 at the port of first departure.


(ii) Travel of passengers from member countries of the European Union, the European
Free Trade Association, Turkey and United Kingdom to India is prohibited with effect
from 18th March 2020. No airline shall board a passenger from these nations to India
with effect from 1200 GMT on 18th March 2020. The airline shall enforce this at the
port of initial departure.


(iii) Both these instructions are temporary measures and shall be in force till 31st March
2020 and will be reviewed subsequently.
