India to establish Integrated Control room for Emergency Response
India is going to establish /Integrated control Room for emergency Response under MHA.This step will greatly improve Disaster and emergency Response.This state of Art Integrated control room for Emergency Mangers of government will be established in collaboration with ISRO.
Recently,the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Department of Space signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for setting up of an state-of-the-art Integrated Control Room for Emergency Response (ICR-ER) in Ministry of Home Affairs.
the Joint Secretary (Disaster Management) Shri Sanjeev Kumar Jindal on behalf of MHA and Dr P.V.N Rao, Deputy Director, NRSC, ISRO signed this MoU in Delhi.
Role of ISRO
ISRO is technology leader in satellite communication ,launch and monitoring.It is proving need based disaster and emergency data to different clients in India and abroad. With MoU ,ISRO will render its technical expertise and vast experience for setting up of proposed ICR-ER.The project will be executed under overall supervision of MHA.
Sources familiar with this whole issue informed Emergency Manager that this proposed Integrated Control Room for emergency response is expected to be established in next one-and-a-half year.
Benefit of Integrated Control Room
The ICR-ER will cater to the requirement of Disaster Management as well as Internal Security. Emergency Manger think that ICR-ER will address the most critical requirment of any emergency responce system i.e real time data of emergency.The setellite network and other means with ISRO and MHA will enable the receipt of information on near real-time basis.
This integration will also help in training of emergency mangers.It will also help emergency mangers in strategic level monitoring, situation awareness, command and control, preparedness and response in the diverse internal security situation and disaster related emergencies.
It will increase the operational effectiveness and will be helpful in rendering timely response / assistance during various emergency situations.
