IMD in its recent weather forcast has predicted a normal monsoon. It said that a low pressure area is very likely to form over north Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood during next 24 hours and another low pressure area is likely to form over north Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood around 19th July.
It further added that Monsoon trough is very likely to active and near its normal position during
next one week .
It has predicted that fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur along west coast, South Interior Karnataka, Gujarat region, Madhya Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, East Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand during 1st week. Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is also likely to occur over Gujarat region during first half and over Konkan & Goa during second half of the 1st week.
As per its forecast scattered to fairly widespread rainfall activity is very likely to occur over remaining parts of the country outside Tamilnadu and West Rajasthan, where light isolated to scattered rainfall activity is very likely to occur during the 1st week (Annexure III).
IMD thinks that overall rainfall activity is likely to be normal to above normal along West coast, northwest, central & adjoining east India during 1st week.
As all contributing factors indicate ,during week 2, above normal rainfall activity is very likely to confine over
northwest, central & east India (Annexure VI).
Cyclogenesis:
No cyclogenesis likely over Indian Ocean during next one week.
