Western disturbance to cause more rainfall and hailstorm

A fresh western disturbance and its interaction with a trough in easterlies is likely to cause scattered to fairly widespread rainfall and isolated thunderstorms accompanied with hailstorms over parts of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh mainly during 24th & 25th and over parts of north Interior Karnataka, Telangana and adjoining parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh around 27th January.

Night minimum temperatures are very likely to fall gradually by 3-4°C over northwest India and adjoining central India during next 3-4 days. Dense to very dense fog at isolated places are also very likely over these regions during the morning hours of 25-26 January.

The Western Disturbance as a trough in mid & upper tropospheric westerlies now runs with its axis at5.8 km above mean sea level roughly along Long. 70°E to the north of Lat. 30°N.

♦ The cyclonic circulation extending upto 0.9 km above mean sea level over southeast Uttar Pradesh &neighbourhood persists.

♦ The Low Pressure Area over Equatorial Indian Ocean & adjoining central parts of south Bay of Bengal with associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 3.1 km above mean sea level persists.

♦ The cyclonic circulation extending upto 0.9 km above mean sea level over southwest Bay of Bengal off north Tamilnadu coast persists.

♦ The trough from the above cyclonic circulation to Telangana across Rayalaseema at 0.9 km above mean sea level persists.

Shallow to moderate fog very likely at isolated places in the morning hours over northeastern sates during next 5 days and over parts of east India, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Telangana during next 48hours .

♦Night minimum temperatures over Northwest India & adjoining central India very likely to fall by 3-4°C during next 4-5 days.Fall in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C over Gujarat State and rise in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C over East India during next 2-3 days. No significant change in minimum temperatures over rest parts of the country during next 3-4 days .

26 January (Day 3): ♦Hailstorm at isolated places likely over East Uttar Pradesh and Sikkim.

27 January (Day 4): ♦Hailstorm at isolated places likely over Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradeshand North Interior Karnataka.♦Cold wave conditions at isolated places likely over Jammu division, lower reaches of HimachalPradesh, & Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
