Emergency Manager has investigated the matter and found its connection with cyclone Biparjoy. 90 meter high Guy rope supported steel Akashvani tower in Dwarka, Gujarat has been dismantled as a precautionary measure in view of the incoming cyclone Biparjoy.
One official explained it and said "This has been done to prevent any mishap and minimize damages to life and property in surrounding areas."
This step has been taken in compliance of safety audit of this 35 year old tower by a structural experts from NIT Surat and CCW.
This expert pannel has recommended for the dismantling of this tower in January, 2023.
To keep the transmission service running department is exploring other viable solutions Meanwhile, Akashvani is working on restoration of services from Dwarka by using the available resources.
Experts of Disaster management, closely watching cyclone Biparjoy, have praised the timely action taken by Akashwani functioning under Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
It is interesting coincidence that cyclone Vayu also hit Gujarat coast in mid June of year 2019.
