By late 4th April evening, 2902 confirmed cases and 68 deaths have been reported by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It becomes important to identify the pattern of COVID 19 cases and the age profile of infected cases.
Although, all people falling in the high risk category need to follow all precautions.
It has been observed that most of the deaths are being reported from elderly people or people having co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, kidney/ cardiac issues etc.
An age profile analysis of all the positive cases being reported so far shows that:
○ 8.61% cases is between 0-20 years
○ 41.88% cases is between 21 to 40 years
○ 32.82% cases is between 41 to 60 years
○ 16.69% cases above 60 years
This pattern of higher percentage of infection in age group of 21 to 40 years may because of several reasons:-
1-This is the most active age group of society which does lots of movement.
2-This age group does more social interaction leading to higher chances of getting infection.
3-This age group is basically working group of society because of which it comes in close contact with know and unknown persons.
183 persons have been cured/discharged from the hospitals after recovery.
Out of total 2902 reported, 1023 cases have been linked to Tablighi Jamaat across 17 States.
The states having infected members of Tablighi jamaat include Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, J&K, Rajasthan, Telangana, A&N Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
